On Friday, January 15th, students in grades 7 & 8 asked classroom teacher Vicki Gentler and Guidance Counselor, Sharon Gonyaw, “What can we do to help out in Haiti?” Staff and students brainstormed and came up with the plan to hold a coin drive as well as a benefit dinner / dance.
During the week of January 19th – 22nd, Charleston students participated in their second quarter Spirit Week in conjunction with a Haiti Coin Drive. Charleston staff and students raised over $700.00 in the coin drive and Friday nights Community
Benefit Spaghetti Dinner / Dance raised $767.00, totaling $1,467.00 in four days. What an amazing amount for such a short period of time. We would like to thank all those who volunteered their time as well as to all the parents and community members who came out to support this event.
